Dental Insurance and Finances

Do You Have Questions About Dental Insurance or Finances?
Our Dental Team Have Answers!

NW Calgary Dentist | 16 Avenue Dental | Waiting AreaDental insurance is available to Canadians to help cover some or all of the cost associated with their dental care. 16TH AVENUE DENTAL is pleased to offer the convenience of direct billing to most insurance plans.

Know Your Dental Insurance Plan

Most dental insurance plans cover some, but not all of the cost of your treatment. Our dental fees are based on the average customary fees charged by dental offices in Alberta.

Knowing the details about your specific dental plan is important. Most dental insurance policies follow their own dental fee guide, regardless of the new Alberta Dental Fee guide.  In most cases, the insurance company’s fee guide does not coincide with our fees. In some cases, there may be a difference in fees charged, after the insurance company reimburses our office. This discrepancy in fees is your responsibility and will be invoiced to you.

At 16TH AVENUE DENTAL, we help our patients maximize their dental insurance benefits. Please bring a copy of your plan details for us to help you get the most out of your dental insurance and for us to provide you with accurate estimates for your treatment.

Payment Methods

At 16TH AVENUE DENTAL, we require payment for both your estimated or exact patient portion on the day of service. For your convenience, we offer several payment options:

  • Cash
  • Credit Card
    • Visa
    • MasterCard
  • Interac Direct Payment
  • Direct Billing (also known as the assignment of benefits)

16TH AVENUE DENTAL offers direct billing, also known as an assignment of benefits, as long as the policy accepts direct billing. In some cases, insurance plans do not allow the benefits to be assigned to the dental office, and will only forward payment to the patient. In this case, we require payment from the patient at the time of treatment.

Estimates and Pre-Determinations

Our administrative team is pleased to offer patients estimates for your treatment. If you have dental insurance, we are able to complete a pre-determination that provides you with the exact cost of the treatment. While this may delay your treatment, you will know exactly what (if any) out-of-pocket costs you may be required to pay.
